Terms we use, defined plainly
Short, direct definitions of the concepts behind BMaiKR's services — no marketing spin.
- Digital Sovereignty
- The principle that a business retains full legal and physical control over its data and digital infrastructure — where it is stored, who can access it, and which country’s laws govern it — rather than depending on foreign-hosted platforms subject to outside jurisdiction.
- The Aiko Engine
- BMaiKR’s proprietary AI engine — an autonomous system that combines retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, and persistent memory to manage business processes rather than just answer questions.
- RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
- An AI technique where a model retrieves specific, current information from a business’s own data before generating a response, instead of relying only on what it was originally trained on. This produces more accurate answers and reduces hallucinated results.
- Agentic Workflows
- AI systems that autonomously plan and execute multi-step tasks — breaking a goal into smaller steps, choosing the right tools, and carrying the work through — rather than simply responding to a single prompt.
- Privacy-by-Design
- An approach where data protection is built into a system’s architecture from the start — encryption, access control, and data minimization as defaults — rather than added as a compliance layer after the fact.
- GDPR / AVG
- The General Data Protection Regulation — the EU’s legal framework governing how personal data may be collected, stored, and processed. AVG is the Dutch/Belgian name for the same regulation (Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming).
- White Label Development
- Development work delivered under an agency’s own brand rather than the provider’s — the agency’s client never knows a third party built the work. Used by agencies that need extra engineering capacity without hiring in-house.
- Sovereign Hosting
- Hosting infrastructure that is physically located within, and legally governed by, a specific jurisdiction. BMaiKR designs its hosting around European infrastructure via its provider, HostPowr — exact data-center locations are confirmed per provider documentation rather than assumed.
- Cloud Act Risk
- The exposure a business takes on when its data is hosted with a US-headquartered provider: under the US CLOUD Act, US authorities can compel that provider to hand over data stored anywhere in the world, regardless of local privacy law.
- Data Sovereignty
- The principle that data is subject to the laws of the country in which it is stored — meaning a business hosted outside its own jurisdiction can be exposed to foreign legal requests it never agreed to. Distinct from Digital Sovereignty, which covers infrastructure control more broadly; data sovereignty is specifically about which country’s law governs a given piece of stored data.
- EU Sovereign Cloud
- Cloud infrastructure that is both physically located in the EU and operated by an EU-based provider — as opposed to a US or non-EU hyperscaler’s "EU region," which is still subject to that provider’s home-country laws (see Cloud Act Risk). BMaiKR’s hosting is built on HostPowr’s European infrastructure for this reason.
- BMaiKR OS
- BMaiKR’s in-development operating system for managing and creating custom AI agents — the next stage beyond the current Sovran CRM and Automated Intake tools.
